Updated Holiday Hours/COVID closure

Updated Holiday Hours:

 I will be closed on Saturday December 25th for Christmas & Saturday January 1st New Years Day

Today December 18 will be the last regular shopping day of the year and for the rest of the winter. Given the rapid rise in COVID cases and hospitalizations once again in the northeast USA, I will be open by appointment only rather than regular days/hours for the months of January and February, possibly March (weather depending) when aggressive external ventilation is extremely difficult to achieve. 

I will be in the shop doing a bit of clothing prep and Etsy work this winter so I can generally work before/after an appointment making the best use of the time. Call Cathy 907-242-9062 to arrange a date/time.

So sorry for the inconvenience...once again.

More of Almost Everything!

Good news! The racks are being stuffed this week with more of everything that you've been asking for: Sweaters, jackets, tops, holiday wear in addition a few special winter robes, men's sweaters/shirts, a few plus size and designer pieces.

To make room, I'm adding more to the half-off rack which thins itself. 

I open up my storage bins and occasionally I'm surprised by what I find. Very true this time. Much of what I'm bringing out hasn't been for sale at all or came from my first shop in Alaska, closed in 2010 for the move to the Lower 48 states.  Good stuff.

The beauty of vintage is that it's not getting any younger or losing value as long as it's properly cleaned and stored. 😉

Added new stock this week...

...about 20 winter sweaters have been stocked in and special occasion and party dresses will be added through the next week. Good stuff!

Winter Stock is In the House and Sale!

Except for heavy coats (coming in November) my fall/winter stock has arrived at Nostalgie.

For the next three Saturdays I will be running a 50% off sale rack. On October 29, everything left on the rack will be a flat price per item to clear it out. I will likely have select winter stock on sale for half off for a few months as I have lots of fresh inventory to bring in and no space to display it. Must make room. Some great bargains to be had folks! Come check it out.

Mask Policy

With a heavy heart (and just as my mask aggravated skin was recovering) I will follow CDC recommendations and will resume full masking in my shop regardless of vaccination status and will reinstate active ventilation practices including HEPA filtration due to the rise of the aggressively spreading Delta variant of COVID.

So sorry for the inconvenience. I do have extra (new) paper masks for those that left home without theirs.

Estate Clothing

The estate clothing mentioned earlier in this blog is about 75% in stock now. Some real 50/60s beauties. Most pieces measure out to be modern size 4-6 and most were never worn but have all been cleaned and pressed for freshness. Come check it out!

Pretty Exciting News!

I've spent about 9 hours working through mounds, bags, boxes, totes, trunks of hoarded clothing and there are a few treasures that I hope will clean properly (laundry will be my life) so that I can bring them to my customers. 

A few of the items: 

50s summer dresses and skirts

Mostly 60s/70s blouses, white, frilly, casual camp shirts, summer sleeveless and dressy

A cache of 80s colorful brights (we'll see how that goes) 

Pretty lingerie and vintage pajamas

A few wild 60s/70s mod pieces

And something I've never seen before: 40s thigh high argyle and checked knit stockings. I've seen and have old nylon/silk stockings but not "sport" stockings like these.

Most of these items were never worn with their original manufacturer or store tags but given the less than stellar storage conditions, every piece of clothing will need to be cleaned, pressed and will be paired with their original tags clipped onto my shop hang tags. Most are around a modern size 6 or small.

I expect loss in processing but I brought home 6 large bags of clothes so good stuff is coming. It will take a few weeks for these items to filter into the shop. 

Shop Reopening

Nostalgie will reopen for regular hours on Saturdays 11-5 starting tomorrow. Masks and social distancing will still apply. I'll be very happy to rehang my OPEN banner once again.

I've spent the winter digging out treasures, mending, replacing buttons, sewing hems so there are plenty of never seen pieces this spring. Hope to see you soon.

Regular Shop Hours

Good news!

Beginning on Saturday April 17th, Nostalgie will be regularly open on Saturdays from 11-5pm. Masks and social distancing will still be in place until COVID numbers are down in Connecticut and government guidelines change.

Until then I will be open by appointment and may open while I'm there working, shop condition depending as I will be changing clothing seasons toward the end of March and there is usually massive upheaval during that time.

Regular Hours Coming...Stay Tuned!

Good news! 

Both my husband and I will be eligible for the COVID vaccine on March 1. Since I'm part of the "At Risk" population, as soon as we are both vaccinated and have achieved the proper interval for it to be functional I will resume normal hours, likely open on Saturdays, likely in April masked and socially distanced. 

I'm still open by limited appointment. Call Cathy at 907-242-9062 to set a date/time in the coming month or so.

Opening For Appointments This Week!

The bathroom is repaired and repainted. The shop is cleaned. So I'm ready to reopen.

Since COVID has ramped up in Connecticut once again and I'm an "at risk" senior and care about my customer's safety, a couple of things I will be implementing:

1) Please no active symptoms or known exposure within a few weeks of an appointment

2) Face masks are required and I will be setting appointments for forecasted moderate weather periods to implement cross ventilation during the appointment.

3) Appointments will be limited to 30 minutes, maximum of two persons from the same household or bubble.

Sadly it's either this or close until spring.  Hope to see you very soon.
